The move to amalgamate all divisions of Charnwood Molecular at Charnwood campus is moving apace, with significant progress now being seen at the new facility.
The long-planned relocation brings new market leading laboratories online and has quadrupled Charnwood Molecular’s capacity. The move sees Charnwood Molecular well prepared for the next exciting phase of its development as a company focused on discovery and innovation.
Relocation will allow Charnwood Molecular to better serve its existing global client base, many of whom have come on board during a period of strong growth in recent years.
The move will also support further expansion across a range of services, including a host of pre-clinical discovery core activities such as assay development, computational and medicinal chemistry, early process research and chemical development, alongside a whole suite of others which complement these core services. The phased occupation of the new building at Charnwood Campus has begun, with teams of scientists from the company’s Bio City, Nottingham laboratories now relocating to the new bespoke laboratories within the campus.
Significant new equipment has been installed at the site over the last few months to accommodate the teams moving over from both Bio City and the company’s other site in Loughborough.
Instrument installation has included two new Teledyne ACCQPrep HP150 systems equipped with with Waters C18 columns, seven new Teledyne ISCO CombiFlash NextGen 300+ systems including one with ELSD capability, an Agilent 1260 Infinity HPLC, plus two new Waters ACQUITY UPLC I-Class instruments each with QDa (MS) detectors, alongside other installations . Additionally, three new Radleys Reactor Ready Pilot Lab Reactors were installed for the PR&D group. Full staff training sessions have been completed and the equipment is now fully up and running.
The phased occupation of the site will see teams of scientists moving from both Bio City and Loughborough to their new home, with two teams of medicinal chemists relocating this month and a further two scheduled to move in February 2022. Charnwood Molecular’s biology arm will also relocate towards the end of February 2022. The schedule will see the entire company relocated to Charnwood Campus by the end of February 2022.
