Job overview:

To proactively and creatively grow business opportunities and contacts for Charnwood Molecular specifically in agreed territories and markets, positively addressing revenue targets. The role requires excellent communication, strong self-organisation and planning, problem-solving and influencing skills and will involve frequent national and international travel.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• New Business Development – to grow and enhance the Charnwood Molecular business in assigned national and international territories, establishing new business relationships.
• Revenue generation for assigned international territories to agreed levels.
• Account management of existing client accounts.
• Arranging client meetings and business trips and attending business events.
• Reporting progress through our Business Development infrastructure, including CRM and internal tracking mechanisms, including weekly activity reports, contributions to monthly Business Development reports and Business Development reporting spreadsheets.
• To work as part of a larger Business Development team and provide support when required in territories assigned to other colleagues within the Business Development team.
• To support line management in conducting searches relating to Business Development activities and maintaining key Business Development tools, including company presentations and technical flyers.
• To regularly and proactively update Line Manager and to liaise with clients, on the progress of work activities and associated projects.

• To have regular contact with clients and potential clients by a host of appropriate methods from cold calling to videoconferences to face-to-face meetings and to represent Charnwood Molecular in a professional manner at all times in such discussions.

• To generate quotes (for sign-off by Line Manager) to address project opportunities, ahead of being issued to clients and to proactively follow-up such opportunities.

• To attend to any other incidental and general duties as specified from time to time by his/her Line Managers.

• To work with due consideration to the health and safety of oneself and one’s colleagues at all times.

• To take a proactive approach to one’s professional development.

• To attend seminars or conferences on behalf of the company from time to time as requested.

• To travel to, or work temporarily at, other Charnwood Molecular facilities in the UK from time to time as required.

• To contribute to marketing activities for the company, both to exemplify the overall business offering and to support sales growth within specific territories and/or on specific technical topics or therapeutic areas.

 

Candidate specification:

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

Essential:

• BSc in Chemistry or a related discipline
• Experience, knowledge and understanding of undertaking research projects
• Experience of using MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint
• Experience of writing and presenting reports

Desirable:

• Previous experience of the sales process
• Experience, knowledge and understanding of undertaking research projects
• PhD in Chemistry or a related discipline
• Previous experience of working in an industrial chemistry laboratory
• Previous experience of the sales process
• Network of contacts in the Pharmaceutical & Biotech field
