The Role

Charnwood Molecular have a brand-new opportunity to join the business as IT Engineer. In this role you will be responsible for all the IT functions within the business. This will involve leading all IT focused projects, continuous improvement on all systems within the company and constantly review processes to streamline productivity. You will be the ‘go-to’ person for all IT related queries from staff members across the company.  Due to the nature of the role, travel between our Loughborough and Nottingham (BioCity) sites will be required.

Candidate specification:

As IT Engineer, you can expect to be responsible for:

  • Responsible and accountable for the smooth running of all computer systems within the limits of requirements, specifications, costs and timelines. You will supervise the implementation and maintenance of the company’s computing needs
  • Manage information technology and computer systems
  • Plan, organize, control and evaluate IT and electronic data operations
  • Design, develop, implement and coordinate systems, policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all systems configurations are fully documented and there is a full history of changes and updates
  • Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems
  • Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organisational policy
  • Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time
  • Audit systems and assess their outcomes
  • Creating process and procedures with involvement from other stakeholders
  • Handle annual budget and ensure cost effectiveness
  • Be the ‘go-to’ person for all IT related queries from staff members across the company
  • Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications
  • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks
  • Talk staff through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help set up systems or resolve issues
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults
  • Replace parts as required
  • Provide support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports
  • Support the roll-out of new applications
  • Set up new users’ accounts and profiles and deal with password issues
  • Respond within agreed time limits to call-outs
  • Prioritise and manage many open cases at one time
  • Test and evaluate new technology
  • Be proficient in the following:
    • Office 365
    • Remote Management Monitoring
    • Network Performance Monitoring
    • Ticketing – Help Desk System
    • Cloud Business Continuity

 You should have the following key attributes 

  • 3-5 years’ experience within an IT Engineer/2nd Line position
  • Degree qualification in a Computing discipline or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the following systems
  • Windows Server
    • Microsoft Office 2003 – 2016
    • Windows server 2003 – 2012
    • Windows desktop XP, Windows 10
    • Networking technologies
    • Office 365
  • Active Directory
  • Virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Access DB
  • VoIP Telephony
  • A strong communicator with excellent End User support skills.

 Desirable experience

  • Experience in handling GDPR IT related queries, supporting the company with SAR requests and keeping the company compliant with all IT related issues
