Simple Western™ assays on Jess™ automate the protein separation and immunodetection of traditional Western blots, giving truly quantifiable and reproducible data in just 3 hours.
While Simple Western eliminates many of the tedious error-prone steps of Western blots, preparing the samples and plate loading is still a manual process that takes time and is prone to small errors.
Ryan Mordue, Senior Research Biologist, stepped up to the challenge of finding a solution to manual sample preparation in collaboration with instrumentation experts Analytik Jena.
The resulting application note outlines how the CyBio FeliX was used to simplify the set-up of the Biotechne / Protein Simple Jess and perform all liquid handling aspects of the sample protein assay.
Benefits of this process include:
- Increased reproducibility of data
- Enable inexperienced users to access the technology
- Reduction in manual workload
Ryan commented:
‘It was certainly a challenge to identify a solution for something that I and many others find so time-consuming. However, it was also hugely satisfying to work with Analytik Jena on finding an answer to this.”
Senior Director of Biology, Gary Allenby also noted:
‘It’s great that Ryan had this opportunity to work on a project that provides real benefits for our clients in terms of increasing efficiencies. What’s particularly pleasing though is the opportunity it gave Ryan for professional development which I always encourage.”
